Summary: I went on a Northern Night tour with Karim and the night couldn't have been any better. It was an 8 person group and I was travelling on my own, but the group atmosphere was warm and chatty. First of all, my tour was booked for Saturday night, and two days before Karim wrote to me to offer me to change the date to Friday, as both the weather and the aurora chances were going to be better. I luckily was able to change it and the night started with some huge auroras just as we were driving out of Tromso. Karim knew of a spot with less light pollution along the way and we could enjoy the lights for quite some time. Karim took photos of all of us with her camera (thank you!) and we explored the area as the lights were changing locations. It was great. Once the lights were dimmer we headed towards Hillesøy, where Karim had booked a cabin for us to get warm and have dinner. She told us that depending on the weather forecast she either goes to her own cabin or rents one (she has a couple different locations). We were able to see the lights once again when we arrived and she was checking for them throughout the way too, just in case they got stronger so we would stop. The cabin was very cozy. She lit a fire that quickly made the place warm and she took a big variety of food out for dinner: sausages, cheese, sauces, home made jam, marshmallows, etc. There was plenty of food for all of us. She even brought home made wine, it was delicious! Besides, I asked her a couple weeks before the tour about the availability of gluten free food in case I had to bring gluten free bread (I'm a gluten intolerant) and she told me she'd buy the bread herself, which I highly appreciated. During this time we went out of the cabin a couple times to see if the lights had came out again, which they did but in a fainter way. The strongest ones were the first ones. After having dinner and since the sky got cloudy, we headed back to Tromso and she left each of us at our accommodation (another guest and I were in Tromsdalen and she even took us all the way there). All in all, this tour offered me one of the best nights of my life. I'm so glad I decided to take this instead of a bigger bus tour, as the van could go to places where buses can't and as the atmosphere and the dinner made the whole night even more worth it. Thank you, Karim! Tusen takk!
